Dividing tie beams

For glass block walls, maximal dimensions shall not exceed the following values:
- 3.0 m x 3.0 m for external walls
- 3.0 m x 4.0 m for internal walls (where 4.0 m is the horizontal dimension).

Greater glass block surfaces areas require dividing of walls so areas of finished walls do not exceed the above dimensions.

This dividing can be achieved in three ways:
- in a form of a reinforced concrete tie beam - such tie beams can be constructed by boarding the edges of the glass blocks up to 4-5 cm above blocks. This boarding shall be filled with assembling mortar on a dilatation layer, with longitudinal reinforcement, laid axially in the tie beam. In result, we construct the tie beam that takes loads from above structures, i.e. higher layers of glass blocks;
- a steel I-section, placed on an edge of glass blocks of the last layer;
- a LUX-PROF type circumferential strip, placed on an edge of glass blocks, manufactured in a technology similar to a circumferential frame.

Please remember that the reinforced concrete tie beam, the steel I-section and the circumferential strip shall be tied with the circumferential frame. They must be supported on the circumferential frame and stable connection resulting in a stable and solid monolithic structure.
