As far back as the 18th century a glass works, one of the oldest in Europe, existed where the borders of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic meet. The beneficiary of this glass works is Vitrosilicon S.A. which was established in 1988 as a result of the reformation of the Żaganski Glass Works.
